24458 While researching this family, I noticed that their last name from1840t o 1860 was Sanders in the census records. In 1870 the lastnamechanges t o Saunders. I do have a general index to marriages infleming county that has mosto f these people as Saunders. But, Iwould not hesitate to look in theSa nders general index if you haveaccess to it. I do not know if the change in the name is because thecensus recorderm isspelled the name or if they changed their name andit was alsospelled w rong in the general index to marriages in flemingcounty. Wemay never k now.

24459 Who is Margaret Dillen/Dillon that is living with Michael in 1850? Shec an't be Maria because she is 28 in 1850 and that would make her born@1 822 and Michael and Maria were married in 1824. She cannot betheir da ughter because they weren't married until 1824, which ispossible, howe ver, it is very doubtful. Michael also has 2 childrenliving with him in 1850: Dawson M and Edwi n L. Dawson M was born@1842 and Edwin L was born @1844. Which one of M ichael's boys dothese 2 children belong to? Further research is requi red. Obviously,Maria has died before 1850.

24470 With this family, the last name is spelled differently all the time.In 1 870 the name is spelled Thornberg, in 1880 the name is spelledThornbur g, and in 1900 the name is spelled Thornsburg. So it is upto the rese archers discretion on how they put the last name. I optfor the Thorns burg since that is the way it is spelled in the deathcertificates.
