(Research):John Rehm Biography & His Descendents John Rehm states he arrived in the USA between 1847 and 1849 depending on which documentation you view. This would have made him approximately 15 to 16 years of age. We first find him living in Clinton Twp in the 1850 census. Then on the 15 Feb 1855 he takes Mercy Ann Aker (born Ohio) for his bride in LaPorte County. He eventually settles and buys land in the Section 35, New Durham township, which is located in the Southeast Corner of said twp. John and Mercy have the following children: Henry F. b. 19 July 1856 Mary b. abt 1857 m.George O. Le Clear 27 Feb 1878. She gave birth to at least 4 children and died the 12 MAY 1887 in Denison, Crawford, Iowa Emma C. b. 25 Aug 1860 She also married George O. Le Clear after her sister's death in Iowa. They had one child. Emma d. 7 Nov 1889 William Joseph was b. 25 Dec 1862 and died the 10th of June 1915. He had married Belle English on the 2 Apr 1890. They are both buried in Union Mills Cemetery as are many of this family. Belle was the daughter of George W. English and Mary Wall. Andrew J was born 5 Apr 1865 and died the 8 May 1849. He is buried in Westville Cemetery. He married Martha Frances Phillips (There is quite a history on Andrew in the 1904 History of LaPorte County . John W. b. abt 1868 may have headed West. 2nd Generation Henry F . Rehm, oldest son of John married Florence A. Edison or Edsonon 1 Mar 1882. They had 9 children. Nelia M (married Claude L Tiffany), Elvie Catherine (she married Alden H Herrold), Jennie B (married William F Newell), John Earl, Howard (married Elizabeth Groth), Wayne, Harley, Fred and Irene (did not marry) William Joseph Rehm and Belle had at least one child, a daughter.
