    (Research):While researching this family, I noticed that their last name from 1840 to 1860 was Sanders in the census records. In 1870 the last name changes to Saunders. I do have a general index to marriages in fleming county that has most of these people as Saunders. But, I would not hesitate to look in the Sanders general index if you have access to it. I do not know if the change in the name is because the census recorder misspelled the name or if they changed their name and it was also spelled wrong in the general index to marriages in fleming county. We may never know.

    Notes:

    The 1850 Census has Aaron being born in 1793 and being born in Kentucky. Although there are people that say that Aaron was born in Virginia, both Census records show Kentucky for his birthplace. Now that being said, I know part of Kentucky was formed from Virginia so it is possible but as it shows Kentucky for his birth place that is where I am leaving it as a birth place. Both marriages of Aaron show him being married in Kentucky both times. There are a lot of people that put his last name as Saunders. Both marriage records and both census records show his last name to be Sanders. Even J Lewis that posted his information and his gravestone on find a grave lists it as Saunders. It clearly shows Sanders on the tombstone. All documentation shows Sanders.
