12151 Henry and Sarah are listed as twins in the 1850 Census. The 1860 Census has Sarah being born in 1845 Dinius, Sarah (I23902)

12152 Henry E McKelleb, has a record birth in the 1870 census in New York, However all other records state New Jersey.
In 1905, Henry is living with his daughter Margaret and her family. By looking at the state census, you would think he is in the household before but he never had a daughter by the name of Stella M. I imagine what happened is the census taker asked who he was and his replied that he was Margaret's father.

The Town of Carrolton, named for early settler G. Carrollton, was formed from Great Valley on March 9, 1842. Part of the Allegany Reservation was annexed in 1847. It is the central town on the south border of Cattaraugus County. Ball Hill, in the southeast part is 800 feet above the valley. The Allegany River flows northwest through the northern part. The principal streams are Tunegawant and Windfall Creeks. The main industry is lumbering .

Tuna is a hamlet of the town, in the north. The first permanent settlers were: Charles Foster, Horace Howe, and Marcus Leonard who located on Lots 28 and 29 in 1814. Other early settlers included: John and William Moore, Elias Stone, Peter Zeluff, Isaac Farr, Aaron Kellogg , and William Smith who settled on Tuna Creek in 1828. The first child born was Merit Zeluff, in June 1829; and the first marriage was that of Mr. Brown and Emeline Fuller in 1828. The first death was Enoch Fuller, in 1826.

The first school was taught by Milton Northrop, at Limestone, in 1830-1831. In 1832, the first inn was opened, by Elias Stone near Tuna Creek; and the first store by Charles Lewis. A sawmill was built by Marcus Leonard in 1826.

Limestone is the second hamlet, in the south part. Upon the flats near Limestone are the remains of an ancient fortification. It is in the shape of a figure 8, the remains of the ditch and the earthworks are plainly visible.

Kill Buck and Carrollton, which were prosperous lumbering towns, are villages nearby the Horseshoe Cemetery. The Allegany River originally formed a horseshoe-like bend at a point north of Carrollton in the Town of Great Valley; thereby getting the name Horseshoe Bend. About 1927, there was a wash-out along the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks to the railroad company asked that they make a new channel which enclosed the horseshoe bend into an island.

The Erie Pennsylvania, and the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh (now the Baltimore and Ohio) railroads went through the towns with depots in each village. Carrollton was named after Guy Carrollton Irvine in March 1842 and the town was organized in May 1842. Kill Buck was named after Chief Daniel Kill Buck, an Indian, who lived on the bank of the Allegany River. In 1860, Kill Buck had a population of 800 and in the 1890's Carrollton's population was 4500. John Green built the first lumber mill in Kill Buck in 1812. Both these villages boasted three or four taverns with some a combination tavern and boarding house .

The law of the jungle ruled in these lumber towns. A story was reported of one "Big Jim Morrisey" who challenged a stranger at the breakfast table that he could "Lick any !##!! here. There was silence the stranger leisurely emptied his coffee cup, pushed back his chair, and replied, "Come on, we'll see". The challenged stranger was "Red Hogan " and the two men fought by the banks of the Allegany River until noon, when the boarding house mistress separated them for lunch. They had stripped down to their pants and although battered and bruised, were still full of fight. They started again after lunch and fought until four O'clock, when they shook hands, and called it a draw. Hogan was missing part of an ear and had chewed off a part of Morrisey's finger.
McKelleb, Henry Edward (I11670)

12153 Henry is listed as being born in 1863 in the 1880 Census Froebe, Henry (I18549)

12154 Henry is listed in the 1870 Census as being born in 1857. The 1880 Census has Henry being born in 1858 and he is also listed as being crippled Kerns, Henry Clay (I7565)

12155 Henry's birth date was calculated with how old they said he was on th e death certificate. Ferrell, Henry Leo (I20030)

12156 Her husbands name was Allen W Forsyth VanBenthuysen, Priscilla (I22729)

DINIUS, HARRY A. MONDAY 22 MAY 1961

Harry A. Dinius, 85, veteran Roanoke lumberman, died at 4:15 a.m. today in Lutheran Hospital Ft. Wayne, after an illness of two weeks.
Mr. Dinius was born November 9, 1876 to Henry & Ruth Dinius. His first marriage was to Sylvia Broxon, December 24, 1896. She died in 1958. The second marriage was June 18, 1960 to Maude U. Jackson.
Surviving are the widow; two children, Mrs. Noel Richards of Roanoke, & Stephen Dinius of Ft. Wayne route six; two step children, Mrs. Esther Bracey of Crauthersville, Mo., and Paul M. Broxon of Roanoke, route two; four grandchildren; 13 ste-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
He was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge No. 195 F&AM and the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne.
He had been in the lumber business at Roanoke since 1909....Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Fort Wayne.
Dinius, Harry A. (I21666)

12160 I am not 100% positive that the death certificate states 10/9/1914 for the burial date but her death date is 10/8/1914. Endsley, Sarah (I21899)

12161 I am not entirely convinced that Margaret belongs to Thomas and Elizabeth. She is not listed within the household in 1850. Clayton, Margaret E. (I20583)

12162 I am unable to find Marshall and his family in 1860. Markwell, Marshall P. (I16643)

12163 I am unable to locate Aaron in the 1900 Census, however, he does not pass away until 1907. According to the Find A Grave Website, Aaron's tombstone is no where to be found. Adams, Aaron (I3770)

12164 I am unsure that Peter is buried in Elkhart instead of Middlebury. I have no way of knowing which one he is in since he is not listed in either one. Payne, Peter (I23478)

12165 I believe the year of the marriage is 1897 and not 1898 however, it does state 1898. Family: Richard Orlando Barker / Lela Pearl Armfield (F322)

12166 I had entered Joseph Sr and Nansie (Stodgon) Scott as Robert's parents. However, that would have made Joseph Sr being of the age of 73 years old at Joseph's birth. That seems to be to way off for a couple to have children at that age. Although possible, it is highly unlikely. Most women do not have children after the age of 45, although some do in their 50's. However, until I can get proof that Joseph and Nansie are his parents, I am removing them as the parents.
Something else to consider as well is the naming pattern back then. Scottish naming patterns usually went as follows:
The pattern generally went as follows:
The first son was named after the father's father.
The second son after the mother's father.
The third son after the father.
The first daughter after the mother's mother.
The second daughter after the father's mother.
The third daughter after the mother.

Keep in mind that sometimes they named them with a middle name. However He never named a child Joseph until the 4th child. If you go by the naming pattern then Joseph's father would be the name of Thomas in some way. And this always makes one wonder if Isaac is Mary's father at all as well as the 2nd son was named after the Mothers father which would make her father's name Silas. And if you go by the naming pattern, Nancy would be Mary's mother. and Jane would be Joseph's mother. But the 3rd daughter is named Celia which is no where close to her mother's name.

Scott, Robert (I12415)

12167 I have a death certificate for a John Thomas Bryant, but I am not sur e it is the right one so I have not included the information on him. Bryant, John T (I6864)

12168 I have been unable to find the 1860 Census for this family. In 1850 they are living in Ohio and in 1870 they are in Indiana. The only conclusion I can come up with is they were in the process of moving from Ohio to Indiana when the 1860 Census was taken. Smith, Calvin J. (I23178)

12169 I have documented 9 children for Sarah and John. According to the 1900 Census she is the mother of 10 children with 7 living. Hopefully, I will be able to figure out who the 10th child is and be able to document it. Endsley, Sarah (I21899)

12170 I have not put John's supposed middle name yet, due to the fact that I have yet to find any documentation to prove the middle name yet. John's death certificate states the incorrect mother. The mother that is mentioned is his grandmother.
John Drennen Kirkwood, mentioned in the family last named, and who died in 1905, near Matthews, in Grant County. Reared in Fayette County, he became a skilled workman as a carpenter and builder, a trade he followed for a number of years. In 1859, he settled in Grant County, where he bought some land near Matthews. Then by his active management and ability he secured two hundred and forty acres for himself in Jefferson Township. Thus practically all his attention after he came to Grant County was given to agriculture, and in his time he was known as one of the most successful men in Jefferson Township. In politics, like the majority of the Kirkwood's, he was a Democrat. Though he and his wife held to no church, he was in every sense a Christian. John D. Kirkwood was married in Fayette County to Mrs. Ruth (Crawford) Burgess. She was born in Fayette County in 1824, and died in Jefferson Township of Grant County, December 16, 1902. By her first marriage to Israel Burgess there were two daughters. To the marriage of John Drennen Kirkwood and Mrs. Burgess were born two sons: Frank Howard and Brooks.
Kirkwood, John D. (I11499)

12171 Ida is listed as being born in 1855 in the 1880 Census. McClain, Ida J. (I10642)

12172 If the birth of Minnie and Thomas, children of Jacob and Margaret, is anything to base their move to Illinois on, they moved to Illinois between the years of 1868-1870. They show in the 1870 Census that Thomas was born in 1868 in Indiana and by July 30, 1870 they are in Illinois. That move must of been quite hard on Margaret as she was caring for two small children.

The 1870, 1880, & 1910 Census has Jacob being born in 1841.
Gerhart, Jacob (I23679)

12173 If you calculate her death and age at death her birth date is August 9, 1865 Carson, Anna E. "Annie" (I24131)

12174 If you go by Phoebe's age in 1860 at being 15 that would put her at being born in 1845

Roush, Phoebe (I9469)

12175 In 1800, Congress separated Ohio from the Northwest Territory, designating the rest of the land as the Indiana Territory. In theory this potentially means that records for someone being born in Ohio could be in Indiana.

The 1850 - 1880 Census has Aaron being born in 1809.
Smith, Aaron (I17865)

12176 In 1850, this child was listed as a male and in 1860 this child is listed as a female. Bryant, Francis "Frances" (I22064)

12177 In 1860 they have this child as female. However, the 1850 has him as a male. Anderson, Tunis H (I23138)

12178 In 1860 this child is listed as Sarah E and a female, in 1870 this child is listed as Elmer and a male. Further research is needed to figure out which it is. According to what i have found she is obviously a female. In the 1920 & 1930 census she is listed as being born in 1856.

Sarah E "Ella" states in the 1900 Census that she is the mother of 8 children with all 8 living. Most likely between 1880 - 1884, 1885-1889, and 1892 - 1896 is where these children are . There are three missing. i imagine there is one between Grace and Floyd, Floyd and Lodema, and possibly between Lodema and Ruby.
Wallace, Sarah Ellen "Ella" (I14524)

12179 In 1860, Catharine is listed in the household with Henry and Barbara with the same last name. However, in 1870 she is listed with the last name of Muny. I assume she was a child of one of the children or someone they knew and they took her to raise. I have removed her from Henry and Barbara however, I am keeping her in the file just in case. Muny, Catharinne (I960)

12180 In 1860, Irving is listed as a female and recorded with the name of Ina. He is also listed as being born in 1859 in the 1860 & 1870 Census. In 1880 he is listed as being born in 1858. In the 1900 Census he is listed as being born in August 1859. It depends on what record you look at weather Irving's name is spelled Irving or Irvin. On the marriage records his name is spelled Irving when he marries Mary Ross and its Irvin when he marries Katie Widner. The 1900 Census has his name spelled Irvin. Swank, Irving O. (I20780)

12181 In 1860, John is listed as being born in 1817. In the 1860 Census there are two people listed within the household of John. He is widowed by this time. Who the two are is unknown at this time. They are Marion Sloon, b. 1839 in Wabash County, Illinois and is a male. And Joseph Walker, b. 1843 in Kentucky Newman, John T. (I24208)

12182 In 1860, Robert and Sarah have 2 children in the household besides their daughter Harriet. They are James Cheals, 3 and Lydia M Cheals, 1. It is unknown who these children are at this time. Wilson, Robert (I20365)

12183 In 1870 there is a child in the household of Matthias and Margaret that is 12 years old (born 1858). I believe this child should be listed as Elizabeth, as Elizabeth isn't even listed. Chrisman, Elizabeth (I12560)

12184 In 1870, Jacob, Susanna and their children are apparently in the household of David Traxler. Traxler being her last name could mean that this is her brother or some other relation. He is to young to be her father.
The 1880, 1900 & 1910 Census lists Susanna being born in Pennsylvania
Census Records 1870 - 1880 has Susanna being born in 1843/ The 1920 Census has her born in 1842.
Traxler, Susanna "Susan" (I23857)

12185 In 1870, Joel is indexed in Ancestry as Joel O Duling. Duling, Joel D. (I5787)

12186 In 1870, this child is a girl, and in 1880 this child is a boy. Markwell, William Minor (I20935)

12187 In 1880 it states that Sarah is widowed, however, she is still liste d as a Froebe. There is also a Mary E. listed as a Granddaughter to h er father. Is this actually Sarah's daughter from her deceased husban d or should widowed have been put on one of the boys and Mary E is the ir daughter? Frobe, Sarah (I17163)

12188 In 1880, Anna is listed as being born in May 1880. In the 1900 Census she is listed as being born in May 1881. In the 1910 Census, Anna is listed as being born in 1881. The 1920 Census has Anna being born in 1882. Cablish, Anna W. "Annie" (I23454)

12189 In 1880, Kate "Katie", was b in 1871

Cablish, Kate "Katie" (I23452)

12190 In 1900 it states that Mary is the mother of 12 children with only 5 living. Marriage Certificate states the last name of Jundan where as the death certificate states Jordan. Until we can find out who her father is or find the marriage certificate of her parents i will leave it as is with both names listed. It is unclear where Mary was buried. I would assume it is near her husband Dennis, however, the death certificate isn't clear where she is buried, just that it is in Indiana. Her mother is listed as Mary, however her last name is unclear. Jundan - Jordan, Mary Ellen (I20801)

12191 In 1900, Sarah is listed as being the mother of 6 children with 5 living. Stair, Sarah Violet (I5390)

12192 In 1900, Thomas is widowed. At this time it is unknown who he was married to before he died. Kerns, Thomas L. Sr. (I18561)

12193 In 1900, Warren is listed as being born in September 1864. However the previous 3 Census Records show him having a birth of 1868. Pearson, Wesley Warren (I23501)

12194 In 1910 Elza Jones states that Georgia is his mother in law. I have fo und no indication where she was ever married or had children. I believe K atie may be her niece. Malinda and Orville Porter had a daughter in 18 77 and she is in the 1880 Census with her grandparents. The only thing t hat stops me in recording this is there is a 2 year difference in when K atie was born. In the 1860 Census, Georgia is listed as George Ann and l isted as a male. All other census records indicate that this is a fema le. There are a couple of census records that listed her as George Ann i nstead of Georgia Ann. Porter, Georgia Ann (I16835)

12195 In all the research I have done, there is none of the documents that state that Frank's middle name is Howard. Until I find something that mentions the middle name of Howard, I am leaving it as H. Kirkwood, Frank H. (I110)

12196 In Bertha's death certificate her middle name is spelled Mae. In her marriage record the middle name is spelled May. I choose to go with the marriage record.
The census records from 1910 - 1950 has Bertha's birth date as 1879.
Snepp, Bertha May (I23630)

12197 In Clara's birth record, her father is stated as Henry Miller. Is this because Joseph went by Henry because every other record states Joseph for her father. In the 1900 Kentucky Census, Clara or Clary as they put her, states that she is the mother of 11 children with 7 children living. Who are the 3 children that are deceased. Miller, Clarissa (I5363)

12198 In John and Eliza's marriage papers is a permission to marry. Eliza's mother is listed as Polly Butcher. In the 1850 Census, John and Eliza Rogers has a Hezekiah Butcher living within the household. He is 24 years old with a birth year of 1826 being born in Kentucky. Smoot, Eliza Ann (I24332)

12199 In Previous Census Records before 1900, Margaret was listed as being born in 1846, this is also the case in 1910 and 1920.
Margaret states that she is the mother of 9 children with 8 living in 1910. In 1900 it states she is the mother of 8 children with 8 living.
Even though the death certificate states 1855 for the birth year for Margaret, the age at death says 1845 and so does the tombstone so i am putting 1845. All other records indicate 1845 and not 1855.
Bode, Margaret E. "Jane" (I23446)

12200 In the 1850 Census Elzina is listed as Eliza and she is listed as Elzina in 1860. Elzina is listed as being born in 1844 in the 1870 Census. Clements, Elzina (I23965)
