Death certificate states the date of birth as 1847, however, the tombstone reads 1846. Also the 1900 Census states her birth as March 1846. Research is needed, if possible, to find out which one it is. I am changing it to match the tombstone for the time being.

Depending on what document you look at, it will depend on what you view the last name as. According to James and Mary (Yount) Tharp's marriage Record the last name is Tharp. According to their daughter, Rebecca's marriage record to Harvey Gentry, the last name is Tharpe.
In the 1870 Census, James and Mary have children that are not theirs living with them. They are Sydne Ledbetter, born @1858 in Indiana; George Montgomery, born @1864 in Indiana, Louisa C Montgomery, born @1866 in Indiana, and Erasmios Montgomery, born @1868 in Indiana. The three Montgomery children are most likely siblings to each other. These children could be grandchildren or even wards as far as that goes. Further research may reveal if they are related or not. In the 1880 Census, Louisa and Eramios are still residing with James and Mary. They are listed as their grandchildren. So, on an assumtion, these grandchildren belong to one of their daughters.

Due to all children being born in Ohio, it is estimated that Daniel and Margaret Kelsay removed from Ohio to Indiana between the years 1856 - 1860. Unfortunately, Daniel died at the young age of 42 while his youngest daughter was only 6 years old. He drowned in a river in Indiana.
Kelsay, Daniel (I6406)

Due to the person that posted the pictures of most of this family wanting requests when downloading the tombstone they are not here. I don't have time to ask permission for all the photos I download. I do put the author of tombstones on the pictures to give a person their due when they are the one that takes the picture. William, Maria, and their Daughter and her family are not posted with this for this exact reason. Maybe one of these days I can actually go to the cemeteries and take a picture myself.

Elizabeth Laird was born to Joseph C. and Eleanor "Ellen" (Morison) Laird in Aberdenshire, Scotland, the second of their eight children. Elizabeth's parents were born on the west side of Scotland, and itis unknown why they travelled northeast to Aberdeenshire, but likely it had something to do with work. Elizabeth's father was born in a very small town by the name of Kilmacolm in Renfrewshire, Scotland, near Glasgow. There may not have been any opportunities there, aside from farming. Elizabeth's mother was born in either Glasgow or Lanark,Scotland, towns that are adjacent to Kilmacolm or thereabouts. Four more siblings joined Elizabeth before the Laird family began to migrate toward the United States. Her brother, John Ernest Laird, was born in 1817 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The final child, Peter Laird (my direct ancestor) was born in 1821 in Clark County, Ohio, probably in Greene Township, where the family is found in the 1830 census. The year before her brother Peter was born, Elizabeth married Thomas Claton, Jr. on October 12, 1820, in Warren County, Ohio. Thomas was the son of Thomas D. Claton and Elizabeth Rosa (Brand) Claton . He was born June 12 , 1798 in New Jersey. Elizabeth and Thomas spent their first seven years of married life in Warren County, Ohio, where their first six children were born. Sometime between April of 1827 and May of 1828, they moved to Flat Rock, Shelby County, Indiana, where Elizabeth gave birth to TEN more children! All in all, the Clatons had sixteen children, some of whom died as infants. Others died while very young. Some barely reached majority. Children that survived to old age were only five: James lived to age 79 ; Sarah Elizabeth (Claton) Van Benthuysen lived to be 84; Joseph Washington lived to be77; Cynthia (Claton ) Cochran lived to her 80th year; and Benjamin Franklin lived to the age of 69. Their children were: Adam,1821-1822 James, 1822-1901 Peter, 1823-1825 Eleanor, 1824-1825 Mary,1825-1853 Sarah Elizabeth, 1827-1911 Joseph Washington, 1828-1905 Cynthia, 1829-1909 Thomas Jefferson, 1833-1883 Elizabeth, 1834-1855 infant, 1836-1836 infant, 1837-1837 Louisa, 1838-1857 William Laird,1840-1879 Benjamin Franklin, 1842- 1911 Sanford Ballingal, 1844-1864 Elizabeth herself was 63 when she died in 1865. Her husband lived another 9 years, dying in October of 1874. Their descendants are numerous and wide spread, many of whom migrated all the way west and can be found in California and other western states .

Email from Clint Hamm who reminisced this Harmon family: I grew up wit h some Harmons in Fleming County when we lived on a farm on Bald Hil l near Tilton. There were about five boys that I remember several of w hom played amateur baseball with the Flemingsburg Aces, the team tha t major league Fleming County native, Woodie Fryman, pitched for. I va guely remember the names of Eugene, Jackie, Earl, Billy & James. I bel ieve their father's name was Hansel. I remember these guys so well bec ause a group of the younger brothers "jumped" my brother one nightove r a girl. I was a long at the time and joined in as best I could. Noth ing much happened except that later the father brandished a pitchfor k at my dad over the incident. My brother married the girl and she ha s been my sister-in-law for over 40 years.

Enos is nowhere to be found in the 1870 Census. The only Enos I am able to locate is Enos A who was married to Sarah. Enos E was married to Lucinda. And she is not deceased by the 1870 Census, as they are located in 1880 living within the same household. Hopefully, I can eventually find them in 1870.
In the 1860 Census, all the people are listed on where they were born if known. Enos E is listed as being born in Buncombe County, North Carolina.
Alot of people have Enos as Enos Ellis Scott. However, in all the records I have found, I have not found where his middle name is Ellis. Upon further research, I was able to find his death certificate where at the top it states Enos E, but under the record of death, he is listed as Enos Ellis Scott.

Even though Elizabeth appears to be in a different family than her parents, what it is actually is that her brother and wife were living with his parents. The census taker put Lewis as a different family within the household and therefore it appears that his siblings are their children when they are not.

Elizabeth is listed as being born in 1852 in the 1870 & 1880 Census

Even though Martha appears to be in a different family than her parents, what it is actually is that her brother and wife were living with his parents. The census taker put Lewis as a different family within the household and therefore it appears that his siblings are their children when they are not. That being said Lewis and Rachel were married in 1858 so it is possible that Martha is their daughter, but highly unlikely. A death certificate will determine whose daughter she actually is.

Martha Anna is listed as being born in 1857 in the 1870 & 1880 Census

Find A Grave has Nancy as Mary Jane. Until i can research her before she was married to see, I am leaving her as Nancy Jane due to the fact that the marriage record clearly states that her name is Nancy Jane. Due to the fact that I found two of the children's death certificates I will not being changing it to Mary Jane. The first one states Nancy and the second one Nannie.
Beasley, Nancy Jane (I6311)

Find a grave has Nellie being born on June 31, 1867. There has never been 31 days in June. Also, the calender for June 1867 has only 30 days. It appears that the tombstone says she was 5 years, 11 days, and 20 days.
Baird, Nellie (I23186)

Find a Grave has Rufus the son of Madison & America Grishaw. There are no birth or death dates. I have birth the birth range as that is the place that makes since due to is being the longest spread between children. I would guess that he was born in 1850 but there is no proof at this point.
Grishaw, Rufus Taylor (I23220)

Find a Grave has Sarah's middle name as Ann. Nowhere in the documentation that is available shows that her middle name is Ann. I have not researched her parents as of yet, so it is possible that it shows it there. However, until I find documentation that shows this middle name I am leaving it with just an A. The A could stand for anything. They also have her being born in 1836. However, the census record states 1837 so I am leaving it at 1837 for now unless I find something that shows 1836 which is doubtful.

It is not stated what Sarah died from but, it appears it might have been from childbirth. Not sure, but the birth of her son Mahlon and her death date is close
