  The 1850, 1860 and 1880 Census has Amanda being born in 1817. The Franklin Republican, Friday, October 5, 1888, page 5, column 1 Mrs. J. B. McClain died in Shelbyville on Tuesday morning from a cancerous growth. She was the wife of the late Deacon McClain and both were former citizens of this place. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in this city, Wednesday forenoon. [Submitted by Mark McCrady and Cathea Curry] Although Find A Grave has Amanda passing on October 2, 1888 I am going with the WPA death index for Indiana.
