  Depending on what document you look at, it will depend on what you view the last name as. According to James and Mary (Yount) Tharp's marriage Record the last name is Tharp. According to their daughter, Rebecca's marriage record to Harvey Gentry, the last name is Tharpe. In the 1870 Census, James and Mary have children that are not theirs living with them. They are Sydne Ledbetter, born @1858 in Indiana; George Montgomery, born @1864 in Indiana, Louisa C Montgomery, born @1866 in Indiana, and Erasmios Montgomery, born @1868 in Indiana. The three Montgomery children are most likely siblings to each other. These children could be grandchildren or even wards as far as that goes. Further research may reveal if they are related or not. In the 1880 Census, Louisa and Eramios are still residing with James and Mary. They are listed as their grandchildren. So, on an assumtion, these grandchildren belong to one of their daughters.
